Taiwan is surrounded by water on all the sides. It is located at a distance of
almost 100 miles from the southeastern coastal region of the mainland of China.
The island comprises of foothills, forests, flatlands that are terraced, basins
and beautiful plains in the coastal region.
Taiwan experiences a sub tropical climate with summers from the month of May
to September. It is usually hot and humid during the summers and the winter
season is from December to February and the weather remains mild during this
time.
The currency of Taiwan is New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) the Foreign currencies can
be exchanged at the banks and hotels that are designated by the government.
Major credit cards are accepted almost everywhere around Taiwan.
Road, railways and airways along with some important ports are the main means
of transportation in Taiwan. Buses are the major means of road transportation
system and there are certain bus corporations that are responsible for the excellent
service. The Rapid Transit System and the long distance as well as the short
distance railway routes also help the transport system to work without interruption.
The important ports and harbors are Hualien, Taichung and others. Taxis and
rented cars are also available.
There are varied visiting places in Taiwan including the Yangmingshan National;
Park, the capital city of Taipei, the Central Cross-Island Highway, Sun Moon
Lake, the Kenting National Park and many more.
Taiwan has a collection of cheap as well as luxury hotels that have friendly
staffs to make the tourists' feel at home. Some of the important hotels are
the Landis Taipei Hotel, the Riviera Hotel and many others.
Apart from this there a number of shopping malls and restaurants that would
allow you have a great time. These are some of the favorite spots of the tourists'
especially but the locals also visit these places frequently.
