The holidays in Taiwan play a special role in the lives of the citizens and are a time to mix up with the community. Taiwan also has a variety of festivals that occurs according to the lunar calendar. The other official holidays are dependent on the western calendar.

The lunar festivals are one of the greatest occasions celebrated in Taiwan. The days commemorating the important events of the Republic Of China's history includes Double Tenth National Day; Taiwan's Retrocession Day; and Constitution Day which are also declared as holiday.
