Taiwan is an island that is surrounded by water on all sides. It is one of the best locations to visit in Asia. The western Pacific Ocean comprises of the island of Taiwan and it is at distance of 100 miles off the southeastern coastal area of the mainland China. Being one of the tourist destinations, Taiwan has a great collection of various important locations to visit. It experiences a sub tropical climate and the summer season persists from the month of May to September. The atmosphere remains hot and humid during this period of time. Winter commences from December to February and the weather remains mild. It is recommended not to visit Taiwan during the major holidays and most importantly during the Chinese New Year. The New Year occurs in the time of early February and the transport usually remains full this time. The hotels become very costly during this time and majority of the shops and restaurants remain closed. The fares of flights during the summer generally increase as a result it becomes a bit inconvenient for the passengers. The month of October is usually pleasant, but the best month to visit would be November. In the period of late August or in the early September, the Chinese travelers cannot be seen on the roads and the temples become active. This month is usually called Ghost Month. Taiwan is at its best during the various festivals occurring according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. One of such festival is the Taipei Lantern Festival which is regarded as one of the most romantic festivals of Taiwan. The season of spring brings beauty to the city of Taipei and it is worth visiting.
