Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok City

Located 30 km (19 miles) east of Bangkok city, the Suvarnabhumi Airport is the premier international airport of Thailand served by all major international airlines as well as domestic airlines, including Thai Airways domestic flights with 3-digit flight numbers. It has just one large terminal building serving both domestic and international flights. The airport offers all passenger facilities such as ATMs, currency exchange counter, restaurants, and airport express bus, limousine and taxi hire counters. The free shuttle bus service drops you at Public Transport Center from where you can take a bus or taxi to reach Bangkok city.

Transportation from Airport to Bangkok city

There are different transportation options available to passengers to travel from the airport to Bangkok city. They can hire a limousine, car or a public taxi from respective counters at the airport, or take an Airport Express bus or a public bus from the Public Transport Center to reach the city conveniently. There are also privately-owned BMTA minivans that operate between the airport and major areas of Bangkok and charge a flat rate of 50 baht.

Airport Express Buses: Airport Express operates air-conditioned bus service between Suvarnabhumi Airport and downtown Bangkok. The service covers four routes – Suvarnabhumi- Silom , Suvarnabhumi- Khao San Road , Suvarnabhumi-Sukhumvit and Suvarnahhumi-Victory Monument-Hua Lamphong (train station) . There is a flat charge of 150 baht for entire route (for any of 4 routes), and it take about 60 to 90 minutes to reach the city. Airport Express operates hourly buses from 5:00 am in the morning to midnight. Airport Express Counter is located at Level 1, near entrance 8.

Car Rental Service: You can hire a car from Car Rental Service Counter at the Arrivals level (2nd floor). You can avail the services of world-renowned car rental agencies such as AVIS, Hertz, Budget and Thai Car Rent Association. Thereafter, take a free Shuttle Bus (Express Route) from outside the second floor to pick your rental car from Car Rental Center (at Public Transport Center).

Limousine Service: If you want to hire a limousine then go directly to the Limousine Service Counter at the Arrivals on the 2nd floor. There are 6 types of limousines available at the airport offering 24-hr services. Limousine fare is fixed by distance. The fare between the airport and central Sukhumvit is around 800 baht. Beware of touts who normally quote substantially higher fare that an ordinary metered taxi would charge. Limousine pick up area is located at the Arrivals level (outer curb).

Public Taxis: Public taxis counters are located at the Arrivals on the 2nd floor near entrances 3, 4, 7 and 8. Ask your destination at the counter and get a slip from with your destination mentioned in Thai on it. All taxis are metered and drivers are certified by the airport. Fare charges includes meter readings plus 50 baht airport surcharge on meter. A trip to city will cost you between 300-400 baht plus a 25-baht expressway toll. You can take a shuttle bus (Express route) from outside the second floor to the Transport Center taxi stand. You can also hire a taxi from Taxi Stand at the Transport Center.

Public Bus Service: Passengers can also avail the facility of 24 hour public bus service at the airport. The Bus Terminal is located at the Transport Center. You can take a shuttle bus (Express route) from Arrivals (outside the 2nd floor) to the Transport Center. Bus fare ranges between 30-35 baht.
