Vimanmek Teak Mansion

Vimanmek is a royal elegant palace located in the north part of Bangkok, near the Dusit Zoo. It was primarily built by the King to achieve the unique blend of Thai and European styles. This elite palace boasts pavilions featuring traditional Thai architecture and gorgeous well maintained blooming landscaped gardens. It is well known as the Teak Palace and is considered as the biggest teakwood mansion in the World.

It is a fascinating palace and a must visit spot in Bangkok. The main palace features 81 well appointed ornamented rooms and it also houses many appealing guesthouses which envelop the mansion enhancing its exquisiteness all the more.

Vimanmek Teak Mansion is said to be built without the support of nails. It was originally built for Rama V or Chulalongkorn to keep his wife, children and attendants. But it was abandoned later. In the year 1982 it was again opened by Queen Siriket to commemorate the 200 th anniversary of the founding of Bangkok city. Vimanmek Mansion houses fine collection of pieces of jewelry, art, paintings, antiques, and photos from Europe and across the world. You can also visit the Royal Carriage Museum and Abhisek Dusit Home.
