Bangkok or Krung Thep which means the City of Angels was constructed in 1782 or 224 years ago. Presently, Bangkok has approximately 10 million populations and it is considered one of the biggest cities in the world. Bangkok is a very flourishing and developing tourist destination. Every year thousands of visitors travel to Bangkok from the length and the breadth of the globe. Amongst the various tourist places in Bangkok which are really famous among the travelers, the Chitralada Palace deserves special mention. Chitralada Palace was once King Chulalongkorn's summer residence. It stands in about 1 sq. km (247 acres) of grounds including several artificial lakes. At each corner of the park is a fountain adorned with Late Baroque figures drawn from mythology, proof of the cultivated taste of Thailand's rulers. King Bhumibol was the first king in the Chakri dynasty to live in the Chitralada Palace. The palace ground contains the Chitralada School, which was initially established for the children of the royal family. Chitralada does not seem to be a typical royal residence. It is more of an agricultural research station. The palace indeed doubles as a sort of experimental farm, aimed primarily at boosting the income of rice growers in the north by providing fish stock.
