Doi Suthep Chiang Mai

Doi Suthep Chiang Mai is located at an elevation of 1,022 m (3,000ft) from the sea level. It is situated about 15 kilometers from Chiang Mai. This mountain offers picturesque views of the city from its summit.
It is not difficult to reach Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai. You can board the Public transportation to cross the road 16 kilometers northwest out of the city. Later, you will have to climb the road up on the Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai.
Apart from being noted for its dominating presence, Doi Suthep in Chiang is also recognized for serving as a home to Wat Phra Borommathat Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai. It is one of the most famous temples in the Kingdom.
The legend behind this temple goes that a fake Buddha relic was placed on the back of a sacred white elephant. The elephant was allowed to roam where-ever it wanted. It was thought that elephant will place the relic somewhere in the plain but the elephant climbed to the top of Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai.
The sacred animal on this Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai location trumpeted three times, turned around three times, knelt down and died. King Ku Na built the famous temple on Doi Suthep Chiang Mai at the end of 14th century, because he felt that this was the spot where the relic wanted to be so.
