Wat Chiang Man Chiang Mai
Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai is located on Ratchaphakhinai Road, within the walls of the old city,Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. It was built in 1296 by King Mengrai. the founder of the city .

It is said that the king lived here while his palace was being completed. A brick has an inscription in Thai that demarks the spot where King Mengrai died in 1317. Though Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai has been renovated and reconstructed several times but it still maintains its original charm and appearance.

The entrance of Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai is flanked by two lions. The interior of the temple is divided by teak columns into three aisles. Two out of three contains Buddha images. One of the images, is a replica of the sacred Buddha Sila. Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai is one the most popular tourist attraction in Chiang Mai.

The original Buddha Sila, is brought out only once a year for a special ceremony. Buddha Sila is believed to date from the 8th century, it is said that Buddha Sila blessed with rainmaking powers. Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai also features a chedi. Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai attracts numerous locals as well as foreign tourists.

Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Mai also boasts of rock crystal figure on a gold base known as the Crystal Buddha. Crystal Buddha was presented to Chama Thevi, Queen of Haripunchai, in 663.

The Crystal Buddha was carried off by King Mengrai, who later became the architect of the temple and the city. This temple place is best for sightseeing in Chiang Mai.
