The relic was found by a monk who hid the relic. The relic was found by King Kuna of Chiang Mai who built a chedi in Wat Suan Dok, Chiang Mai to house it. It is said that in 1383 the relic separated itself into two separate pieces, but miraculously each relic piece grew back to the original size. The other relic is at the famous temple on the Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai.
