The airport at Ko Samui is also known as Samui Airport and is based around 2 kilometers from the village of Chaweng. The most unique part about the airport is that it has no indoor area and only a gift shop. The airport is located near the Big Buddha Pier and as such travelers can take ferries to Ko Pha Ngan. The airport is made with palm-thatched roofs and the runways are more or less well developed.

Ko Samui Airport is owned by Bangkok Airways which is the premier airlines in the country. It operates around 15, eighty minute, flights per day on the Bangkok-Samui route and 4, ninety minute, flights per week on the new Samui-Singapore route. In addition, a number of daily flights on Samui-Phuket, Samui-Pattaya (U-Tapao) and Samui-Krabi routes also operate from Ko Samui airport. Flying time for flights on Samui-Phuket and Samui-Pattaya routes is less than 45 minutes.

After arriving at the Ko Samui airport, travelers will be transported to the main terminal by small and nicely painted electric wagons and directed accordingly.
