Have you heard of romancing the moon? Loi Ruea Chao Le Festival in Krabi has something to do it. Reach this province of Thailand and experience how to carry on with age old tradition without being superstitious enough to hurt any one or any community.

Loi Ruea Chao Le Festival is a rare festival on Ko Lanta. And this becomes the participatory ground for sea gypsies. This fiesta is held yearly. It is celebrated on the full moon day in the sixth and the eleventh months of the lunar calendar.

The reason or purpose behind this annual celebration is something more than sheer enjoyment. It is believed to be related to the well being of this place as well as of its dwellers.

On the occasion of this festival the sea gypsies on Ko Lanta and from neighboring areas flock at the sea beach, which is situated near Ban Sala Dan. Now what happens during this fiesta is actually sailing on the sea, but this time the object behind this sail becomes really commendable. After gathering at the seashore, the sea gypsies start floating boats in the sea in order to bring good luck. The Rong Ngeng, a typical southern dance as well as traditional music, is performed around the boats.
