From the statistics it is evident that Thai is the most spoken language in the country. This trend continues in the Krabi province as well.
Thai is a part of the Thai-Kadai family, which covers most part of Southeast Asia. Krabi, the province known for tourism is well influenced by the language. Though thousands of tourists from all over the globe visit the island every year, still Thai has been the dominating language for Krabi. As a matter of fact the biggest problem tourists face while on a trip to Krabi is the language barrier. A very feeble population among the locals speaks English. It's very important for the tourists to pick up some local vocabulary to communicate with the locals.
The Thai language is characterized by the use of the tones. A small group of the words actually turns into a huge vocabulary. The language differs completely from English but the only similarity seems to be the usage of the syllables. For the starters the simplified grammar and basic words are recommended.
Another characteristic of the Thai language is the usage of the unique characters. The language doesn't bear spacing between two words making the language more difficult for the early learners.
The locals of Krabi are fast learning English in order to cope up with the increasing scope in tourism in the island.
