Prah Nang Beach

Thailand - Bangkok - Chiang Mai - Koh Samui Island - Krabi - Pattaya - Phuket

Though most of the visitors who come to Krabi, head straight for the beaches to relax, there a number of sites in Krabi apart from the beaches that are worth a visit. Of these the most prominent is the limestone scenery, which dominates the entire region offering a fascinating network of cave systems, both inland and along the coastline. Many of these caves contain fascinating crystalline formations, stalagmites and stalactites. Many of these caves form an innate part of the local folklore and are to be the home of spirits, containing Buddha images and items of spiritual worship. When talking about caves a mention must be made of Prah Nang Beach, Krabi.

There is a strange cave located on lovely Phra Nang Beach, within 10 minutes walk of Railay Beach East, easily accessible by boat. Recently the Princess Cave or Tham Phra Nang Nok , located on this beach revealed a hidden inner Princess Cave or Tham Phra Nang Nai , believed by local fishermen to be the home of a mythical sea princess. There is a collection of strange phallic symbols, offerings and objects believed to help with fertility inside the cave.

The best way to reach Prah Nang Beach is by a taking a short boat trip across a secluded section of sand that costs around 20B (50¢) from Raillay proper or a cliffside walk east, past Rayavadee resort and south along a shaded cliffside path (watch for monkeys).
