Hong Islands
Thailand - Bangkok - Chiang Mai - Koh Samui Island - Krabi - Pattaya - Phuket
According to some estimates, there are around 200 islands around the Krabi coastline. Of these, many are small rocky outcrops that literally rise out of the sea and have no landing access. Others are larger with zero inhabited population marked with characteristic azure white sand beaches, coral reefs, and intricate cave systems. Hong Island (Koh Hong) is one of them.
Exploring Hong Islands, Krabi can be an enriching experience as it offers spectacular beauty, rich and colorful flora and fauna, many activities as well as secluded nooks or those who want to escape the crowds. The Hong Islands is located 25 kilometres NW of Ao Nang. Not to be confused with the other Koh Hong in Phang Nga Bay, these tiny islands are simply beautiful. The island is dotted with enchanting soft sand beaches and esoteric hidden lagoons with shoals of colorful fish that literally eat out of your hand.
Here water sports enthusiasts can go sea kayaking, enjoy quietly gliding through the shallow water, and explore around caves inaccessible to larger boats. Some permanent residents of these caves include sea eagles soaring above and starfish just below the surface.
Those who would like to camp here should make advance bookings, as the facility is limited. The 200 Baht National Park fee is applicable when visiting this island. For those who are taking a tour should check if the fee is included in the price.
