Koh Samet Island (The Paradise Island)

Koh Samet Island is one of the most beautiful places in Thailand and has one of the most popular beaches around Pattaya. The name of the island has been derived from two terms: Koh means island in Thai, and Samet is tree that grows in abundance on the island. Koh Samet Island lies at a distance of less than seven kms off the coast of Rayong Province in the eastern Gulf of Thailand. It is the driest archipelago in Thailand and hence can be visited all the year through. Koh Samet and the infinitesimal islands nearby are surrounded by coral formations in shallow water that make it enjoyable for snorkeling.
