Phuket is the largest island of Thailand and one of the most beautiful tropical islands in Asia. Located on the south of Thailand, it is accessible by air, coach or cruise. The name Phuket is derived from the Malay word Bukit, which means hill, and hills dominate the interior of the islands. There are some rubber plantations and a few open-pit mining operations are also going on. Enjoy a tourist safari getting into the jungles of Phuket, or climb up the hills to have great views of the beaches below and the many surrounding islands and islets. In fact, the beaches in Phuket's happen to be among the best in Thailand.
