Ho Kaeo Mukdahan: This is also known as the glass tower of Mukdahan. The tower rises above a two storey nine-sided building. It displays the cultural tradition of Mukdahan and traces its progress from the ancient days. The display in the first floor includes utensils used by the villagers in their daily lives and the second floor traces the history of Mukdahan. The seventh floor exhibits the different Buddha images that are designated for worship on different days of the week. The sixth floor sports an observation deck that offers a beautiful vision of the surrounding area including the meandering Mekong River.
Phu Nang Hong: This is a curious rock formation that is shaped like a swan and it is also a place of tourist attraction.
Phu Pha Taem: Wander into the past by witnessing pristine paintings that are as much as 3,500 years old. The paintings are in a rocky alcove that is about 12 meters above the ground level. The paintings include palm paintings and also those with different geometric patterns.
Mukdahan National Park: This national park encompasses a large area of deciduous forests and sports unusual rock formations.
Wat Mano Phirom: This is an ancient temple and it dates back to 1756. The temple is constructed in Lan Chang Style and houses a beautiful image of Buddha seated in meditation under the hood of a seven-headed Naga. The temple also has many other ancient images of Buddha that are of great historical value.
Wat Song Khon: This is a destination for the pious Christians. It was built in honor the seven martyrs who sacrificed their lives to profess their belief in God during the time of Franco Thai dispute.
Wat Matchimawat: This temple is famous for housing ht largest bronze ceremonial drum or the Dong Son. The drum is heavily decorated with several interesting patterns.
The Indochina Market: This market offers a wide variety of local handicrafts like matmee silk, and khit pillows. It also sells popular local herbs.
You can reach Mukdahan by buses that leave from Bangkok's Northeastern Bus terminal. Also you can take a train from Bangkok that goes to Ubon Ratchathani.
