Similan Islands Thailand

The place is famous for its diving spots. The most popular spots are Ko Tachai, Christmas point and fantasy reef. The Similan liveaboards is the best possible way of diving at these islands. There is Scuba day trips conducted from October to May.

Ko Similan is the largest of the nine islands. Its underwater is full of coral reefs of various amusing shapes. The reefs are sometimes in the shape of a deer, a mushroom or even human brain!

The longest beach in the park is located on the Ko Huyong Island. Several turtles use this island for laying their eggs.

The beach forest is the tropical type and include important tree species like Manilkara, Tournefotia argentia and many others.

The islands are also excellent for bird watching. 39 species of birds can be found on these 9 islands including Brahminy Kite, White breasted Waterhen, Pintail Snipe and Grey Wagtail. There are also 16 species of birds in the islands.

Buses run daily from bangkok to Phang Nga frm where you have to take another bus to Thap Lamu District. From thap lamu you have to hire a motorbike to complete the rest of your journey tom Thap Lamu Pier. You can also take a private boatfrom Thap Lamu port to the Similan islands.
