Bang Pa In Palace Ayutthaya
The Bang Pa-In Palace, Ayutthaya lies on the banks of the Charopaya River about 60 km north of Bangkok. It was the royal summer palace but has now fallen into disuse. The buildings that you see are the ones that have been revived in the 19 century by King Monkut, Rama VI.

The public is allowed to get in only two places inside the Bang Pa-In palace.

One is the Phra Thinang Withun Thatsana. This is an "observatory" that is shaped like a tower. There are many balconies that allow visitors to catch the views of the beautiful palace gardens.

The other building is the Phra Thinang Wehat Chamrun. It is built in Chinese style and it was built to make use of in during the monsoons.

Besides these two there are the other buildings like-

Phra Thinang Warophat Phiman- it is a double storied building having the reception hall and the apartments of King Mongkut.

Phra Thinang Aisawan Thippa- it is a beautiful pavilion that stands right in the center of the lake.

The best way to reach Bang Pa In is by availing the luxury cruises from all the riverside hotels. There is also the Chaophraya River Express Boat service that operates specially on all Sundays. This starts off from the Prachan pier.

The next best option would be to take the train that leaves from the Hualampong station at 7:05 am and 8:35 am. The station is just 2km from the palace from where you can take a samlor - that is a three-wheeled rickshaw to your destination.

You need to pay 50 Bahts in order to enter the palace grounds. The timings are from 8:30 am to 5 pm but at 3:30 pm the ticket office closes for the day.
