Elephant Round Up Show

Elephants have always been very important features in the culture, tradition, literature, art and architecture of Thailand. An image of an elephant also featured on the flag of Thailand during the reign of King Rama II. The elephants are a part of the everyday life of the Thais and so to commemorate this, the Surin Elephant Round up show is held annually.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand organizes the Elephant Round Up Show since 1960. It has rapidly grown in popularity and now it is acclaimed worldwide. The celebrations include talent shows by elephants. There are other aspects like the demonstration of the various techniques used to capture and also the ways by which they are trained. There is also a presentation of how ancient warfare was conducted on elephant backs.

There are tickets available for the Elephant Round Up Show. The tickets cost about 500 Baht and 200Baht. There are advance tickets available also for 500 Baht.
