Makha Bucha Day
Thailand hosts some very important events. A famous event dotting the Thai calendar is the Makha Bucha Day which actually commemorates two separate events that had occurred on the same date during Buddha' lifetime some thousands of years ago. However the first event was the meeting of 1,250monks from all over the world and different places only to be ordained by Lord Buddha. However the second event was held 45yeas later where Buddha had spread his teachings only shortly before died. The main highlight was that both these events had occurred on the day of the full moon of the third lunar month known as Makha while Bucha meant to honor. Hence the day is actually to commemorate Buddha's teachings on the full moon day of every third lunar month.

On this particular Makha Bucha day Buddhist monks from all over the world are encouraged and supported to increase their studies and learning. This is done only to make them understand that they are supposed to acquire more knowledge and merit. The monks actually carry candles with them and walk around the shrines and temples three times. The day is also followed and revered by non Buddhist monks. The day actually signifies a lot of ideals and progress of Buddhism in Thailand. The event is highly auspicious and celebrated with much reverence. The event was recently revamped in Thailand and takes various shapes and colors in different places of the world.

Thus Makha Bucha day is a very important event in the Thai calendar as it goes on to signify the Buddhist teachings and philosophy.
