Considered to be the heart of business activities in the Middle East, Dubai World
Trade Center is a 39 storey tower housing a Convention Center with a capacity
of 6500 seats, eight exhibition halls and several residential apartments. The
184 metres high building was inaugurated in 1979 after it was built under the
patronage of H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime

Center or DWTC is approximately 283,000 sq. ft. Of the 39 stories of DWTC, 28

The role played by DWTC in promoting and boosting domestic and international
trade cannot be quantified in simple terms. One of the main business activities
in Dubai World Trade Center is the exhibitions arranged different halls of the
Tower. At present, DWTC can allow a gross exhibition space of 42,000 sq. mts.
inside the tower. In addition to it with its acquisition of a new exhibition
complex in 1999 for the Airport Expo Dubai, DWTC has added 23,000 sq.mts. more
to its gross exhibition area.
Dubai International Convention Center and Dubai International Catering Center
are the two main bodies associated with the day to day business of DWTC. Dubai
International Convention Center can accommodate as many as 12,000 delegates
at a time. One of the major successes of this Center was the organization of
2003 Annual General Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group
and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in September 2003 when the state-of-the-art
venue of DICC came to the world's attention for the first time. On an average,
8,000 meals are produced daily by a modernized and well equipped kitchen of
the Dubai International Catering Centre. The three food & beverage outlets
at three different corners of the DWTC complex is managed by this Centre. In
addition, Dubai International Catering Centre offers its catering services for
affluent external parties like the Royal families, Diplomats and other international
dignitaries.
To widen the scope of Arabic language in business circles, DWTC takes extra
efforts to conduct beginners, intermediate and advanced courses in Arabic Language.
