Built in 1896, Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House, Dubai is an iconic structure from the olden days of Dubai. Saeed Al-Maktoum was the brain behind Dubai Creek, one of the magnificent marine attractions for the tourists world over. This erstwhile ancestral home for the Al-Maktoum family for several generations has witnessed several watersheds in the History of Dubai. Acknowledging the role of Saeed Al-Maktoum in the development of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Hasher Al-Maktoum, during his reign constructed this structure at the Shindagha waterfront area of Dubai Creek.

Built in Traditional Arabic Architecture, Sheikh Saeed Al-Makhtoum House is converted to a full-fledged museum after the demise of Sheikh Saeed in 1958. The House at present displays various photographs of the Al-Maktoum family which has portrayed the pomp and grandeur of Al-Makhtoum along different generations. Coins and Stamps which are also on display in Sheikh Saeed Al-Makhtoum House provide an overall insight into the life and culture in Dubai along different centuries of the past.

The coral covered building with finishing in lime and plaster attracts tourists from world over, as this material combination helps night illumination to work wonder on it and helps foreground the building to look like a hub of glowworms.

Tourist can enjoy the expanse of spacious courtyards, multi-stories, verandas and bathrooms. Entry timings are as follows:
Saturday thru Thursday: 8.30 am - 9 pm

The description would be incomplete without if the magnificence of Dubai Creek, where Sheikh Saeed Al-Makhtoum House is located, is not mentioned. Fourteen kilometers long Dubai Creek is a major tourist attraction of the city, though the extent to which this creek supports foreign exchange and trade may not be fully evident to a common tourist. Along eight wharfages of the Creek, around 720 thousand tones of cargo is exchanged with neighboring countries like Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen and India every year. The Creek can accommodate as many as 31 ships at one time with a net weight cap of 800 tones.
