Festivals and Events in Sharjah

Sharjah organizes many national and international Festivals and Events in Sharjah. Some such Events in Sharjah include the Chinese Commodities fair in Sharjah that is going to take place from November 18 to 22, 2007. This is China' s one of the biggest trade fair that is held in the Middle East. The trade fair features things like consumer goods, household and industrial goods.

Again in December, Sharjah hosts the international book fair being organized by the department of culture and information, Government of Sharjah. Sharjah Arts Biennial is another event held during the months of April and June. Sharjah also offers many sporting activities. There are many sports club that offer activities like gymnasium, ice skating rink etc.

Festivals in Sharjah are celebrated with great fanfare. Eid al Fitr, the major Festival of UAE is celebrated for three days following the month of Ramadan. Muslims gather in large number to celebrate Eid. The days are spent in praying, meeting friends, greeting people, and feasting. On this special day, sweets, fruits and snacks are offered to all and gifts are offered to children. The month of Ramadan is also celebrated with great enthusiasm. Muslims fast from down to dusk during the month of Ramadan.

Other than these 1st December is celebrated as New Year's Day and December 2 is celebrated as National Day of UAE. The National Day is celebrated with cultural activities throughout the country.
