United Arab Emirates - Abu Dhabi - Dubai - Sharjah - Al Ain

Among all the symbols of a nation the flag is considered as one of the most important. It represents the people and their pride. In other words it represents the nation. The UAE Flag is no different this country is a unification of seven self-governing sheik-ruled emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Qaiwain.

The National Flag of United Arab Emirates was adopted on 2nd December 1971 after the seven emirates decided to form the UAE. The rectangular shaped flag of UAE consists of four colors- Red, Green, White and Black. While the Green dash at the top symbolizes fertility the White dash at the middle represents neutrality. The black dash at the bottom of the UAE Flag reflects the Emirates oil wealth. The vertical red band at the hoist side of the UAE flag is meant to remember the former flags of the Kharijite Muslims. The flags width to length ratio is 1 to 2.
