Visas are required for all nationals with the exception of nationals of 33 countries
- Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Austria,
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Spain, Monaco, Vatican
City, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino and Liechtenstein, USA, Canada, Australia,
New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and GCC countries i.e.
Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Citizens of these countries will
be issued with a free-of-cost Visit Visa valid for 60 days on entry to the UAE.
Every foreign national visiting the UAE needs a passport valid for 90 days from
the date of entry.
Types of Visas
Visit Visas: These visas are issued to individuals intending to stay
over 30 days in UAE. Nationals of 33 countries mentioned above don't require
a visit visa to enter the UAE, and can obtain a free-of-cost visa on arrival
at an airport, border, or entry point, which is valid for 60 days.
Tourist Visas: Tourist visas are issued to visitors intending to stay
for less than 30 days in the UAE. The visa is valid for only 30 days, and can
be issued by the hotel that you are staying in or through a local travel company.
Transit Visa or Stopover Visa: Transit Visas are required to passengers
passing through UAE airports. A transit visa can be issued to individuals who
have a valid ticket for an onward flight by any airline that has an office within
the United Arab Emirates. The transit visa is valid for 96 hours.
Multiple Entry Visa: Multiple Entry Visas are ideal for businessmen
who are frequent visitors to the UAE. It's valid for six months from the date
of issue. However, each visit must not exceed 30 days.
Investor Visa: It is issued to an expatriate investor in partnership with a
local. The foreign investor must hold a minimum stake of Dh70, 000 in the share
capital. Like the residence visa, it is issued for three years for a fee of
Dh300.
Employment Visa: Employment Visa or Entry Permit is issued by the Immigration
Department to a foreign national who wishes to work for a company in the UAE
The employment visa is arranged by employers and is valid for 2 months.
