Cuc Phuong National Park, situated 140 km away from Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, is the first of its kind in the country. This park is nestled in a huge valley surrounded by two ranges of limestone hills. Founded in 1962, Cuc Phuong National Park occupies a total area of around 22,200 ha. This typical rain forest consists of five different coverings of greenery including three of big trees, one of shrubs and one of snow grass.
Cuc Phuong National Park has a rich collection of 2,000 species of flora, 320 species of bird, 70 species of mammal, 1,800 species of insect and many more. Traces of prehistoric human species and fossils of dinosaurs, which date back to some 230 million years ago, can be seen inside the Cuc Phuong National Park in Ho Chi Minh City.
Bird watching along the trails of Cuc Phuong National Park, through out the day, will surely add to your pleasure. Some rare species of bird like Ruddy Kingfisher, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Spot-bellied Eagle-Owl and White-tailed Flycatcher can also be seen in this famous National Park in Vietnam.
Endangered mammals like Clouded Leopard, Indochinese Tiger and the rare Delacour Langur are also housed in the dense forests of Cuc Phuong National Park.
