Ho Chi Minh City Bus Service
Vietnam - Hoi An - Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City - Hue
Frankly speaking, the road system in Ho Chi Minh City is still in a pitiable state. Most of its major streets are filled with potholes. Conditions of the back streets and alleyways within the city are even more pathetic. Public transport system of Ho Chi Minh City is far from being developed. The locals either use their own transport in the form of motorbike or bicycle or depend on cyclos and taxis for getting around the city.
The only one private bus company, which serves the routes inside this bustling city, is the Saigon Star Bus Company. This company operates four bus routes within Ho Chi Minh City. The bus routes heading towards Binh Tay Market or Mien Tay Bus Station begin from Me Linh and pass across the Ben Thanh Market in the center of the city. The buses, which run along the An Nhon/Thanh Loc or An Suong route, start from the Ben Thanh Market. The Binh Tay bus runs every 6-10 minutes; the Mien Tay bus appears every 13 minutes; the An Nhon/Thanh Loc bus operates every 7-10 minutes; and lastly the An Suong bus runs every 8-10 minutes.
Bus fares are same on all bus routes and tickets are to be purchased after
getting into the bus. Bus service is available for moving around the city and
also for travel to and from the Tan Son Nhat Airport of the city.
