Ton Duc Thang Museum Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam - Hoi An - Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City - Hue

The famous Ton Duc Thang Museum in Ho Chi Minh City was founded to celebrate the occasion of the late President Ton Duc Thang's centennial birthday anniversary on August 20, 1988. It is housed within the once residence of Tran Thien Khiem, the renowned Premier of the Saigon government, prior to 1975. The displays Ton Duc Thang Museum vividly represent the life and cause of President Thang.

The museum has a rich collection of over 600 items, photos and documents related with the life of the former president of Vietnam. This museum, dedicated to the President Ton Duc Thang, who is commemorated as a great fighter and model patriot, is an important destination in Ho Chi Minh City. President Thang, who took over from President Ho Chi Minh in 1969, was the only Vietnamese, who was engaged in the anti-war activities of 1917 on a French warship in Black Sea. These anti-war activities played a major role in the success of the Russian October Revolution, the world's first proletarian revolution.

Located in the opposite side of river Saigon, this museum with its mere collection of photographs of various world figures is not so much popular among those who are not interested in Vietnamese politics. That’s why unlike other museums of Ho Chi Minh City it is deserted most of the time.
