Everyday in Hoi An celebrates a new festival, few uniquely celebrated only in
the town and few is celebrated all over Vietnam. Unlike the western world, most
of these events are based on lunar calendar.
Hoi An Legendary Night is a very colorful festival that takes place only in
Hoi An. The event is observed on 14th evening of every lunar month. The streets
are lightened with colorful lanterns. Local people play music on the streets
that crates an ambiance similar to ancient times. Mid Autumn Festival is also
very popular in Hoi An. This is celebrated on the 14 and 15th day of August
in the Vietnamese calendar. Lion and unicorn dances with drumming are a common
scene of this festival. There are many other events and festivals that make
Hoi An more colorful.
Beside these events and festivals, there are numerous other entertainments
in Hoi An. You can hire a bike or a bicycle and roam around the town, visiting
the markets and beaches. A walk down the roads can be equally entertaining.
The markets sell fantastic quality silk dress materials and home decors. You
can purchase a few at a good bargain. The tailors you would find at the market
will get your dress stitched within 24 hours time. The other shopping items
will include wooden and marble carved statues and paintings of famous artists.
Adventurous water sports are very popular in Hoi An. Wind surfing, parasailing,
water skiing, jet skiing, snorkeling, and rainbow diving are widely practiced
by the locals as well as those who visit this place. Swimming and fishing could
also be other modes of entertainment in Hoi An.
Hoi An offers a great night life! The sizzling bars, pubs and night clubs would
serve you with all that you want from thirst quenching cocktail drinks to delicious
cuisines and lovely music.
