Hue Tourism

Declared by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the imperial city complex of Hue is the capital of Vietnam's Thua Thien-Hue province, and is situated on the banks of the Perfume River. Hue Tourism leads the list as to the most amazing and frequently visited city of Vietnam.

Hue Tourism has grown rapidly in the last few years, according to the regional tourist department, recording a rise of almost 18-20 per cent per annum. During the peak season, Hue attracts almost as many as 12,000 visitors per day.

Historically, Hue is famous as being the capital of Vietnam during the 19th-century Nguyen dynasty, and houses many royal structures such as palaces, temples, citadels, etc. War, however, destroyed a majority of these royal monuments, which were later repaired and reconstructed so as to bring about a boost to Hue Tourism.

The region of Hue offers numerous possibilities for tourist excursions: visits of the monuments in the Imperial city and of royal tombs, ecotourism, trekking, boat rides on the Perfume River or on the sea.
