Huong River (Perfume River) Hue
Vietnam - Hoi An - Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City - Hue
The Perfume River is 30km long and that is from Bang Lang to Thuan An estuary. In this region the stream runs very slowly. Beautifully as well as mysteriously the color of the Perfume River becomes darker when it runs along the foot of Ngoc Tran Mount - the Jade Cup Temple. Here lies a very deep abyss.
The Perfume River is gorgeous sight from its basis, and runs among peaks, jungle trees and plants. The river brings with it fragrances of tropical flora. Probably that's why the name of the river has been the Perfume River. The waterway goes leisurely through the lush and shaded hamlets of Vy Da, Gia Hoi, Kim Long, Dong Ba, Nguyet Bieu, Dinh market, Nam Pho, Bao Vinh, mingling with the odors of flowers of Hue.
Perfume River with the sparkle blue limpid color looks like a pearl in the sun. Boats are operated up and down with remote, pensive and deep folk tunes at deep night. It is an everlasting joy for several generations of travelers who go boating to watch the lyrical scenery, to listen to the folk melodies of Hue in relaxing nights under starlit sky.
The sights on both sides of the stream with the fort, settlement, precincts, pagodas, towers and temples and their mirror images in the waters make the already loveable river even more lyrical and melodic. Many people believe that Hue city has serene, mild and peaceful setting mostly thanks to the Perfume River. This river brings to the city a thoughtful rhythmical individuality and the pleasant-sounding limpidity exhaling from a land of age-old culture.
