Mieu Temple Hue

Vietnam - Hoi An - Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City - Hue
Mieu Temple, Hue positioned southwest of the Citadel is devoted to ten Emperors of the Nguyen dynasty. This temple was built by Emperor Minh Mang in the year 1821. Roofed with yellow enameled tiles, this example of double architecture presents a main building consisted of 9 compartments and a front building of 11 compartments, which are together linked with two bays on east and west sides.

The Mieu Temple once had seven red and yellow lacquered altars of which one is in the middle and three on either side. These altars are dedicated to the emperors of the Nguyen dynasty.

Many excessively valuable individual belongings of the Nguyen Emperors are held in reserve in this temple. Once dozens of gold ingots were kept on each altar. Luckily enough, the place of worship has undergone the least damage through the several wars and today visitors can see it as it was formerly built.
