The hotel reception area is very nice, spacious and airy. Breakfast was fast and very good with a wide choice on offer. My room, although clean, was in desperate need of renovation and there is no outside carpark, the cheapest and best place to park being the small Morrison Street car park about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel (the one next to the Travel Inn, not the VERY expensive one further up Morrison Street beside the conference centre).
The staff, especially the evening porter, were extremely friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble - this kind of personal service is becoming rarer and rarer in Edinburgh as big multi-nationals often run a faceless service which in itself is very infuriating. Therefore, although the rooms let this hotel down, the location is good for the city centre and the staff made my stay very pleasant.
