The James is decent and the service was fairly good, but they had a few issues that started to irritate us and the other guests during our stay. When we got there, the computers were down so it took them awhile to even verify that my name was in the system. If I didn't have a printout of my reservation it would have been a much bigger mess. Only one of the elevators worked much of the time we were there. We were only on the 5th floor so it wasn't too much of an issue for us, but many of the other guests were clearly frsutrated by this. The bell hops & valets were very friendly and the location is really great. The lobby, lounge and Jbar are all very small spaces and don't offer much for atmosphere. (Nothing compared to the original James in Scottsdale. Although it's no longer the James, it is now a Mondrian) James Chicago is a nice spot for couples and business travelers exploring downtown Chicago, just don't plan on spending your free time at the hotel.
