3/5  Posted by Christopher Cuyegkeng, Philippines in May 2007
"Upon the advice of friends I booked a room at the Holiday Inn Civic Center and reviewing the hotel info thought it would be a great place to see the sites of SFO from. The hotel is fairly nice with the presence of super efficient bellmen (look for the Filipino guys on duty their the friendliest) and that european front desk person again married to a Filipina who has absorbed the warmth of the Asian with a Caucasian face. But watch out for the Asst. Guest Manager named George who's solution to room problems is a free breakfast or a move to another room in the middle of the night. Of course he will attempt to win you on his side by saying that he himself should have been home already. No one around to fix electricals in the event you come in after 10 pm and find your room in semi-darkness. The immediate surroundings are not that enticing as there are no shops or restaurants to visit. Not to mention the homeless people sleeping along the sidewalk. To think the hotel is at the edge of the Civic Center. Thank God for a bart station a 3 minute walk from the hotel but passing through the mendicants and other homeless people asking for smokes or money. Holiday Inn should do something to revive the area where their hotel is located."
