Hotel Review posted by Jack Koh, Singapore in April 2005

I was there on 16th April 2005<>br
Plus pts: Clean, nice hotel with excellent services. Super friendly and helpful front desk, and bell boys. Although located a little 4km away from city centre, taxi is cheap at approx. US$1 to any locations within city area. Located next to several taxi operators, so very easy to walk up to their taxi office and request they call + give specific instructions (e.g. go to 15, Pho Cha Ca Restarant) to their driver and using meter. The lake-side of Nikko hotel Hanoi has better shopping and commercial facilities, and quite interesting too.
Minus: The other opposite side has old district's busy and awful dusty streets. But leads to train station.

| "I only stayed at the Nikko for one night after a two week trip in Vietnam. It was lovely to stay in such a nice hotel before flying home (especially as it has a pool to relax in). The flat were all extremely helpful and accomodating.
Whilst this is not really a Vietnamese experience it is a great hotel and definitely worth a visit if you want a top class international hotel." |

| "My friends and I had a very good experience in this hotel.
There were four of us (all women) and we booked 2 adjoining double rooms. Except for the initial mix up on the adjoining rooms when we got to our floor, everything went without a hitch.
Our rooms and bathrooms were big and comfortable, and were equipped with all the standard room amenities and toiletries (hair dryer, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, combs, sewing kits, etc).
I was especially amused with the exercise machine (a stepper-like contraption) that was provided in every room. I've been to many hotels in different parts of the world, but I've never stayed in one that provided an exercise machine in every room. (Not that we used it...)
We were very pleased also with the helpful lady in the business center who arranged our city tour for us.
But the biggest factor in our high rating of this hotel was their accommodating our request to use their gym facilities before our midnight flight. This way, we had the benefit of freshening up without having to pay for an extra night.
If I may make a suggestion to the hotel: allow guests to use the lobby wi-fi free of charge. In this day and age, this seems pretty basic. You may want to extend wi-fi coverage to the rooms as well. With devices getting smaller and smaller (ie. iPhones, iPods and Blackberries), the LAN connections provided in the rooms may not be enough.
Three cheers for Nikko! I'd definitely give this hotel a green light if a friend asks my recommendation.

| "The staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were good and typical of a 5 star business hotel. The pool area lacked in character, but it was fine for a refreshing dip after pounding the pavements of Hanoi. We would stay again.

| "Great Location. Price is reasonable.
Breakfast is also good taste but not so many choices.
This hotel is value for the money. " |

| "The hotel is located within a 15 min walking distance to the old quarters and other must see places. And the walk to these places is pretty nice...past lakes and a whole host of shops. Staff in the hotel are professional (not overly friendly or warm) and the rooms are comfortable." |
