"Hi, this hotel is quite close to the main sights in HCMC. I got a very small but clean room. as I was alone it didn't cause me any discomfort. bathroom was ok, good restaurant. the staff is very friendly and helpful."

"the hotel staff are rude, the hotel is very old and not in a good area of down. breakfast very basic and not easy to get to. they are much better hotels for the money. "
4/5  Posted by MRS. KAUFMANN, Janine, Australia in June 2008
"The hotel was very nice for a budget hotel. Beds comfortable, bathroom nice, service and help from the front desk - excellent. The breakfasts were very nice. We were able to get a tour arranged at short notice which was a good informative, value for money tour of the Cu Chi tunnels. All in all I would recommend this hotel - especially for the price."

"The rooms at the Empress were a lot smaller than we had thought but it wasn't too bad for the price we were paying. Although when we checked in, our room had hair everywhere, the bathroom needed a little cleaning, and the bed I was using was missing a blanket. Other than that, it was an okay place to stay and sleep. The amenitites are just the basics. Their laundry service is quite good and fast. The breakfast was okay, nothing special. The best part of the hotel are the staff. The staff are so attentive and so very helpful to all your needs! I was amazed at just how courteous they were! I recommend the hotel based on the people working there! So very very helpful!"

"Upon arrival at hotel, I was given a room that has an unpleasant smell in the toilet. And the room floor was soiled. After raised the issues to the house keeping and reception, they acted the problems right away and changed me to a clean room. Apart from my initial issues, I had a pleasant stay throughout my entire stay. All staff were friendly and helpful. "

"Service is excellent. Hotel staff proactively offered suggestions on where to go, as well as being very responsive to your requests. If I were to visit the city again, I'll definitely stay at Empress Hotel again."

"Nice budget hotel with clean room and comfortable bed + big toilets. However, the street it is in is pretty quiet at night. Also, the hotel neon signs are not working so it is difficult to spot at night."

"The room and the hotel itself was overall fine. We did have a very big problem with buying 2 bus tickets with the hotel. We bought 2 sleeper bus tickets for a 10 hour trip only to find out when we arrived at the bus station that we didn't have a ticket for not only a sleeper bus but any bus. We purchased these tickets through the hotel for $60 US and am still not sure what this money has gone towards. "
