Customer Satisfaction Not a Front Desk & Management Policy
In spite of a reservation voucher, we were told they were overbooked. The front desk staff, who all acted like they haven't eaten the whole day, made us wait 40 minutes to get checked in to what they said was a "club room upgrade" on the 9/F. The catch: we had to transfer to a room downgrade after the 1st night. It would not have been so bad as the 2nd room on the 8/F appeared to have no difference anyway from the so-called "club room", but cigarette odor was all over including the "no-smoking"(?)hallway. Worse, we were made to transfer our bags ourselves from room to room, floor to floor, with no porter assistance despite repeated demands from the front desk & housekeeping! grrrrrrrr!!! buyers beware, paragon would have been a nice place in general, no kidding, if only you won't mind being patient with their totally exasperating, slow, indifferent customer service policy. :(

The hotel is very nice, good staff, great location and excellent breakfast. If you are traveling by train, the main station is just across the street, and easy walk unless you have a huge load of luggage. There's a subway station and a tourist info center even closer. I used the tourist info center to arrange a private tour to the Mutianyu section got the Great Wall and they were a little cheaper than the conceirge of the hotel. I arrived very early in the AM and expected to just leave my luggage until normal check in time, but they said that they would have my room ready in 30 minutes and even gave me a nice coffee in the lobby cafe while I waited. A shopping mall is attached and good restaurants are close by. I would and probably will stay here again.

Even at the executive club level, the room is considered small. The plus point is there is a small balcony with a comfortable chair for you to relax and listen to the pianist in the morning. The breakfast buffet has a reasonable spread and is not bad at all. The location is great if you are taking the subway as it is just located across the road. However, if you could afford, taking taxi especially during the day may be a better choice. The subway is really packed. We tried once and we are literally sandwiched. Places of interest like Wang Fujing and Tiananmen are nearby but not really walkable. Taking a cab cost minimum ...almost just the "qi bu fei"(initial fare when u got on the cab) 10RMB. For food variety,there is a KFC and a few chinese mini restaurants located at the ground level of the Henderson shopping mall, which is located next to the hotel (connected). Mcdonald is located across the road. Overall, I think the stay is reasonably comfortable at the executive floor.

The room, I booked was deluxe and it is not bad at all but it has no locking system in the bathroom which is uncomfortable and quite risky specially while you have small kids. I did mention of my kids on my booking but there was no suggestion at all. I would change my booking ref if I would know that. I found most of the hotel staffs were very helpful although some of them speak very little English. Overall it is nice hotel, I will not discourage people to stay at this Hotel.
