Service not too nice, because when we check in, the hotel could not give me the room type that we request, and promised next day, but they didn't gave to us if we didn't ask again. front office not so friendly. no free wifi and no newspaper, also no toothbrush.

Good Location
We stayed at the York hotel for 4 nights on our visit to Singapore. The hotel is neat and clean and is well located. It is barely 5 minutes walking to Orchard road and is centrally located. Overall, the hotel is a good clean hotel and the breakfast is a decent spread. We were happy with the cleanliness of the room and the quality of the room we stayed in was as we would expect in a hotel of this category. However, the hotel gave us just 1 bottle of water for the entire stay of 4 nights, and charging S$8 for every additional bottle of water was honestly a surprise. We actually had to purchase water from the nearby 7-11 to keep in our hotel room, this really shocked us as with most hotels Ive stayed in across the world including Singapore, at least 2 bottles of water are replenished daily. Besides this, the hotel is a good clean hotel with good staff.

You get what you pay
This is my 1st comeback to York since 1997. The building has been renewed and I think it's good. The location is about 100 m next to Mt.Elizabeth Hospital so it's actually close to downtown. You can reach the nearest MRT Station-Orchard in 10 minutes walking.
Regarding the service, it's 11 pm when I checked-in. It took about almost 15' since I had to wait the reception handled other guest. I didn't have any probs in waiting but that night, there's only 1 receptionist on duty (I guess) since meanwhile I was waiting there was another man coming from inside of the reception but he didn't intend to help us checking-in. So yes, I was a bit grumpy at that moment.
The room is clean, no smelll. The bathroom is still old fashioned but i still think it's acceptable. Hotel provides 1 bottle of mineral water, tea-coffee, bathroom amenities but no room sandals. Things that bothering me, tv channel is quite limited. Mostly local cable. And room wall is thin so we can hear voices from neighbor room. What made it worse was the guest at my next room was snoring! Barely can sleep all night.
However, they actually have helpful and kind staff. And hotel policy let us to put our luggage at the concierge with no additional cost while we went around Orchard to spend time before went to airport.

Affordable place 5 - 10 mins walk to Orchard Road
I took my family of 3 with an 11-month old baby to visit me here in Singapore and this hotel is on good central location for shopping and sightseeing, the rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

most of travleller now need an internet access. comparing with another hotel with a quite similar in pricing, york didnt give a free internet access. i have tried to buy the voucher. but the speed access is very low. i need almost 15 minutes to open a single page.
this hotel also didnt give a mineral water everyday. just 1 bottle for each basis. i have extended my stay and they have recorded as a new booking, means new basis, but i havent receive any new mineral water.
