Small but Great Quality & Location
Scarlet Hotel was clean, well appointed, comfortable, with great staff, and in a good location for easy access into the business district. The room was a little small which wasnt a problem as a single traveller, and if I have to identify a negative, it would be that no wifi was available in the room.

Good location, acceptable rooms
Hotel Scarlet is located near (10 min walk) to different MRT's stations and just on the corner of Chinatown centre. It is not located on a busy street, so noise from traffic (if you are lucky to have a window) is limited.
The atmosphere in the hotel is typical due to the theme, however it did not bother me a bit as the service was great and swift and rooms acceptable. Rooms are tidy and with all required facilities, but they are generally small and most of them lack a window.
The price and quality is between the expensive five star hotels on Orchard and the low budget hotels. I would say you get good value for money and if I'm going back to Singapore (for holiday) I would book here again. For work or long term stay I would not recommend it due to the small rooms and lack of windows.

Though for one night, we had a pleasant stay. Wish we had the room sooner, we came in from Dubai arriving in SIN at 5+am, knew check in at 2pm ,we came in at around 11+am , told them we had been up since 5+am and was told to wait for almost an hour to get the room early.Had a feeling that room was available but maybe due to procedure was not given early. But we could be wrong.

great boutique hotel, great concept, great staff, but the room was awfully small.. i can hardly swing a cat in it. if you travel light with a handbag, it may suit your needs, but if you have just one suitcase, the room is very small..

We have stayed at The Scarlet on...
We have stayed at The Scarlet on 3 occassions and keep coming back due to two factors - class and service. Whilst the rooms are not big, they exude comfort and quality, with touches such as free bottled water everyday. The staff genuinely take pride in their work and their workplace. You aren't just greeted with "Hello" but with "Hello Mr Turner, how was the museum?"; they take care to notice the small things and are attentive yet unobtrusive. Every staff member has a fun and professional attitude.
This attitude carries through to all facilites, such as Bold (ground floor bar) with its accomplished bar staff and extensive use of red velour, black leather and and funky music (ask what the daily drink promotion is and you may be plesantly surprised), or Desire (restaurant and breakfast room) with its top menu and...interesting art, and if you don't visit Breeze (the open-air rooftop bar) of an evening, well you're just doing yourself a disservice.
I was a little unsure about location when I first stayed here but soon found the MRT a short stroll through Chinatown and, once you get your bearings it's quite a handy spot. Club St is just behind The Scarlet and there are some great restaurants in the immediate area.
As you can tell, I am a fan of The Scarlet. I have stayed in at least half a dozen other hotels in Singapore and, as yet, have not found one that compares. As long as they keep doing what they are doing, we will keep coming back.
Keep up the good work.
NOTE: It's well worth paying a little extra to include breakfast in your accomodation - yuuummm! Also, many taxi drivers don't know Erskine Road by name (I don't know why) but if you have any trouble, just tell them "Off South Bridge Road after Ann Siang Hill", if that doesn't work just mention the Maxwell Food Centre - all the cabbies know that place.
