Overall the location of the hotel is good as it's near to the MRT station. However the hotel didn't provide the room type as requested in Asia room booking. I have made the double bed booking however the hotel gave us a small queen size bed. The receptionist request to pay extra if we wanted to have double bed. This is totally unfair to the customer as Asia room has the bed choice and that's the reason we choose this hotel for double beds via Asia room booking. 2nd floor is not advisable to stay as it's very noisy in the morning as we can hear the noise from the ground floor kitchen and the aircond is not cool with the smoking smell. I have requested 2 times for addition pillow and the receptionist never deliver the addition pillow to our room. I surely will come back to Taipei again and I hope the receptionist service will be improved and would not upset the room guests again.

Very good location. evergreen bus bus stops...
Very good location. evergreen bus bus stops at shuang lian MRT station which is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. hotel has a good location. only 2 stops to taipei main station MRT station, or can be walked in 30 minutes leisurely. 1 stop away from zhongshan MRT which is a major shopping area with a department store. can be walked in 10 minutes from hotel. good value for money. location is number 1 selling point.

Enjoyed my stay at the Shin Shih...
Enjoyed my stay at the Shin Shih (xin shi, for all you hanyu pinyin folks), very convenient, clean and friendly. Only a few minutes easy walk from the Red Line MRT and Taoyuan airport shuttle. Quick and easy internet access (bring your own telephone cords if you are not wireless yet.) Older building but remodeled nicely, newly tiled bathroom with glass tile accents and a claw foot bath, great shower with almost instant hot water. Only drawback in the bathroom, no towel racks to hang wet towels after a shower. Breakfast, well, not that great but adequate with a variety of breads for toasting, a good coffee maker, eggs, ham, veggies and Chinese porridge and soup, oh, and fresh flowers. My room was on the small side. Great service, very helpful, quick registration and check-out. I'll definitely stay there again.
