Filthy dirty bathroom - to be avoided

Hotel does not live up to the website photos. Superior double room was small - air conditioner did not work - bathroom was filthy with rat droppings and mold in the shower tile areas plus the bathroom ceiling was rotten and broken. Only stayed one night - staff were friendly but this is not a hotel to be recommended - it needs a serious refurbishment and a good clean.

Good location

Right around the corner from Khao San Road which means you are still at the centre of all the action, but don't hear the noise from the bars! Rooms were fairly basic, but no complaints. Staff are lovely, would stay again, but would book in advance if only to get a cheaper rate.

Good for backpackers wanting to find their feet in Bangkok

Ideally located at the airport bus stop and around the corner from kao san Rd. Room was quiet, actually had views of grand palace! Clean sheets and shower, 4 floors so be prepared to carry your bags up narrow stairs. Bring a lock..had no probs but always better to be safe. Deposit box avail in reception. You will need extra 500B for key deposit, refundable. Breakfast was ok, its often inc in price of room choice fruit, eggs, american bkfast, tea, coffee etc. Can get much cheaper round the corner, but, as i said i find its good to be somewhere like this as, even seasoned bangkok travellers find things change, guest houses become nightclubs, change hands, and often increase their prices significantly when mentioned in certain travel guides. Check it out but move on for longer stays in BKK.

Value for money and well located

Hi,
I stayed at Sawasdee Khaosan Inn for 3 nights.
The hotel is very well located, very close to the temples (walking distance) and not too far from Sukhumvit area (90b by taxi).
I am not really a backpacker (Khaosan being mainly an area for backpackers) but I enjoyed Khaosan...
It's a good value for money, and obviously, you can't really expect a great hotel with a terrific customer service for the room rate.
I would recommend it for young people, who don't want to spend a lot of money on accommodation and want to be located in a central area.

hotel bit old.location is very good.very near to khaosan rd.for relaxing spa and massage is good place and good environment at the back of hotel and cheaper than town.

Great location, clean and adequate rooms. My stay...

Great location, clean and adequate rooms. My stay was onlymarred by the attitude of the clerk on duty when I checked in my confirmed booking at 2.30 in the morning. Apart from that, a good bargain place to stay.
