Pretty good value
I stayed here for 2 nights only, but already eaten at the hotel restaurant for both of the nights since the price was so good. If you wanna to eat out, that's fine too as Koh Chang's eat out price is very affordable. However, the Ramayana's restaurant provides the same, or even superior food compared with eating out. Similar price or even lower, why bother to drive out or walk at night time? With music and better service, really can't complained about it. The pool side massage is fantastic too. 250 baht for one hour and that's pretty much the same price with the rest of the island.
However, there were some cons as well. The room were a bit old and the bathroom hasn't got much facilities. The "beach transfer service" to sister hotel, Dewa, is not quite scheduled service. It may leave Ramayana on time, but don't expect you will see another returned bus coming back from Dewa also on the hour. If there isn't any guests coming from Ramayana, you will not see the return bus from Dewa. I waited for 30 mins or more, expecting there would be one but none. The Dewa staff was unhelpful also. Saying had already called, but I doubt she had. Otherwise, I wouldn't have to wait for 30 mins or more when the trip takes only 5 mins! Lastly, don't break anything in the room. They charged me for breaking one of their glass (for brushing teeth). I said there isn't even enough room on the sink to put it when brushing teeth. So it felt into the sink itself and broke. They didn't care. 50 bahts thank you very much. I've never had any problem with that in other hotels in Thailand.

The resort itself was very good, the staff were super friendly and most could speak some English. We had a problem with the hot water but it was fixed immediately we reported it.
I was suprised that the wi fi was not free as most places i stay at are.

The resort is unbelieveble beautiful and very relaxing.
The people there are very friendly and helpful.
We had a very good time there, but have three remarks.
One, the free shuttle to White Sand Beach leaves only at 0.30 pm and just brings you there, so you have to take a taxi to bring you back to the resort.
Two, the matrasses are pretty hard to sleep on for westerners like us.
Three, the showerrooms are oldstyle dark and brown and have a showercurtain: they realy should be restyled.
Everything is made up for the great gardens and the relaxing atmosphere

Fantastic resort
We had a wonderfull stay at Ramayana for four nights. The room was perfect, nice big bed and the pool was great. The breakfast was sufficient. We had lunch two times at the pool and two diners at the restaurant. We can say that the food is excellent and the price of the food is reasonable (it's cheap when you compare it to other restaurants at Ko Chang).
The island itself wasn't so impressive, but because of the resort, we had enjoyed ourselves all four days.

Amazing!
The hotel, the staff, everything was wonderful! They were great with helping us get around and do fun things. Also, the Spa was wonderful. Check that out, but be prepared to spend some time there. Schedules are a little different on the island!

Low season break.
Excellent hotel with friendly helpful staff. Well kept grounds and pool. As it was in the 'Green Season' there was quite a bit of maintenance going on, but it did not interfere with us. Very nice spa with wide rage of treatments.
Hourly bus to and from the beach. They also can arrange any trips round the island.
Would defiantly stay at the hotel again.

beautiful resort with friendly staff
I stayed at the Ramayana for three nights (off-season) May 2011. Check-in was easy and the staff was immediately cordial and friendly.
My room was very clean, good-sized, comfortable with a private outdoor sitting area that looked over a beautifully-landscaped garden. Even though the weather didn't cooperate, the Ramayana provided a free shuttle service to the beach. Staff at the Ramayana was friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was ordinary but included with the price of the booking. Meals on Koh Chang are generally expensive since all food must be shipped from the mainland, but I found some reasonable restaurants at White Sand Beach. While I didn't eat dinner at the resort because I generally avoid hotel/resort restaurants, I did eat Thai food for lunch at the Ramayana. Lunch was not too expensive but a little spicier than I had requested.
The Ramayana is a definite thumbs-up for me. I would stay there again.

We booked on Asia Rooms and got a good deal (in April) and found Ramayana excellent value. It is a well maintained resort with lovely grounds. My 10 year old and 14 year old enjoyed games of badminton - rackets and grass court are provided. The pool appeared small at the start but proved to be more than adequate for the people swimming. Free bus is offered to a beautiful Hotel (owned by the same person), where Ramayana guests are allowed to use the stylish beach Terrace there free of charge. Last bus back though is 6 pm, and so after that one has to find a songtaew taxi if you want to stay on for a meal somewhere. However, we found a good fish restaurant down the end of a side road - but beware the first night they charged us for a 900g fish, that would have been about 0.4kg! Next night I chose a much bigger fish and had them weigh it in front of me (0.5kg!).
We tried the food at the Ramayana, which was adequate if you have to dine there but it is definitely the weakest part of the hotel. The hotel breakfast was similar - good variety but all only just adequate quality. The staff were great and provided terrific service, and so all in all, I would definitely stay again - but if I can afford the other Hotel(where we also stayed for 4 nights at twice the Ramayana rate) I would choose there first just because it is so beautiful! But if you can bear not being right next to the beach, and want to save money, Ramayana is definitely worth considering.
