Beware - false advertising
We booked this accommodation based on the photographs and description supplied on your website, which is the same across other websites. Our first impression was terrible, reception is an old brick room, and our hearts sank when the taxi driver pulled out in front, not a great first impression. Our garden view bungalow, was not actually a bungalow as such, but a row of rooms with glass sliding doors at the front looking on a grey wall - the only "garden view" was a tiny strip of grass along the grey wall.
The restaurant decor is very old and shabby, the whole resort reminded me of a one star backpackers accommodation. The breakfast was very basic food, certainly not enticing. We were offered to be moved to a seaview room the following day but had to pay an extra $200 per night - these were definitely not worth it.
We actually stayed the one night, as we couldnt get our money back, and checked out the following morning.

Very Nice Hotel
when i stay in koh Samui i go again in this hotel. The Hotel is quiet and the Staff is very friendly. The Room is very nice and clean.

Amazing!!!
We spent 3 nights at Baan Talay and I could not speak highly enough of the resort. I booked a pool view room and was upgraded to a beach front villa for 2 nights. These are amazing! they are literally on the beach (not set back from the beach like at many other resorts). I did not see any other villa's as close to the water as the ones at Baan Talay.
The other rooms were equally as nice and appear to have been recently renovated. They have everything you need including LCD TV's DVD players.
Baan Talay is located on one of the best parts of Chaweng beach, its not too shallow at low tide and there are less people around. If you do your research you will see it is nestled among the most exclsive resorts in the area that are double the price. You are also amungst all the shops/bars etc on the main street.
The only negative was the breakfast buffet. It was nice but not amazing. Its only a minor issue but the eggs were usually over cooked. However I would recoment the thai noodle salad for lunch. It was the best dish I ate in Thailand!!

This hotel is all about location. It...
This hotel is all about location. It is at the end of Chaweng Beach away from the crowds and is right on the beach. Our first impressions weren't good as it is not "flashy". The location, pool, restaurant and service were great. All the staff were very friendly and the view from the restaurant is wonderful. You can lie on the deck overlooking the beach and order food and drinks. The pool and surroundings are very nicely maintained. The rooms were adequate but the beds are quite hard. If you're looking for a quiet little place on the beach this is for you.
