We stayed 3 nights in a Premier...
We stayed 3 nights in a Premier Private Pool villa in June. The resort is new, our villa was a good 160sqm in size and the decor very tastefully done. My two kids simply loved the pool and the big soak tub right in front of the pool. Other than the daily housekeeping, no one disturbed us and we were very much in a world of our own.
This is a lovely quiet resort away from the hustle and bustle of the main Chaweng beach. Although the staff told us we could take a short stroll down to the main Chaweng beach, it was actually a long walk and not suitable if you are with kids. It will definitely be better if the resort provided a free shuttle bus down to the main Chaweng area, as cab fares are not exactly cheap.
The problem with the resort is the beach area. The sand was coarse, the water murky and there was not much of a sea to talk about. During the entire time we were there, we did not even see anyone suntanning on the beach, most ppl just used the hotel pool. Most of the nights we had dinner down at the main Chaweng area, which provided us with more eating options. The beach there was definitely better and the sand powdery soft. If your priority is for the beach and sea, then this resort is not for you. You will be better off at the Chaweng Noi area, which is south of Chaweng towards Lamai.
The breakfast which was included in the room charge provided a good variety but the food was not fantastic. The architecture of the Oceankiss restaurant could have been improved with better overhead shelter, as we were almost baking under the greenhouse effect while we were having our breakfast. Somehow, the sun in Koh Samui is very scorching.
Overall, the resort is nice and cosy and we enjoyed our stay there. As the resort is new, we had a good promotional rate for our large villa. But it may not be worth the money if you have to pay the rates stated in the hotel website.
