Amari Samui - squash as many in as you can!
If you like being a sardine, this place is for yu. Every bed claimed with a towel, and every space filled. Me an my family will never go to this hotel again I'm afraid.

We stayed at the so called 5...
We stayed at the so called 5 star Amari. We were told that it was ok to bring our car, there was parking onsite. We found that for approx.300 guests there were only 4 car spaces. We were greeted by no-one and had to unload our car at the front lobby. We Stayed in a very small superior room with a tiny bathroom.The pool is very small and although located on the beach is so overcrowded for the amount of guests staying there. You have to be up early in the morning to reserve a poolside chair. Breakfast was good and they make great cocktail. I travel to thailand four times a year over the past ten years and love the country and the people. But this is a five star resort and my wife and i were very dissappointed. Koh Samui is a beautiful island with a lot of great hotels.

The totel is very nice and staff can provide good service.If spa in hotel is not too expensive then everything is perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay in this...
We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It was very relaxing, the people were very helpful and friendly and the food was well presented and very good. The pools were well looked after and the surrounding gardens were beautiful. The room was a little disappointing but it was clean and perfectly adequate. The only down side was the position of the hotel on the end of the very busy road running along Chaweng beach but this was not apparent in the hotel itself and the beach was much nicer and quiet so the hassaling could be escaped!

Overall, in many ways this is a...
Overall, in many ways this is a lovely hotel with very nice facilities. The breakfast is excellent with a huge number of selections. The restaurants were of a high quality at the hotel and in Koh Samui in general. The room was clean and spacious and the pools were lovely. The downsides now: We found Chaweng beach to be a disappointment in many ways. The beach itself is fair at best - no surf and when it is low tide, the water is fairly far out. There was often a sewage smell on the property that was unpleasant. The main strip was also disappointing. Stores are primarily "honky-tonk" selling items of low diversity and quality. The street was crowded, unclean and uninteresting. Staff at Amari were acceptable but did not compare to the gracious staff we found at so many other hotels throughout Thailand. Nobody seemed to really go out of their way and we were disturbed by getting multiple rates from front desk staff for transportation to the airport; some prices which were exorbitant and unreasonable. I am used to being nickel and dimed by tuk-tuk drivers, not front staff at reputable hotels.

Great resort, rooms and service. Excellent...
Great resort, rooms and service. Excellent Italian restaurant Prego. Only slightly annoying thing was our room was about 5 mins walk from the pool by the beach. There was another pool close to our room though. Also if travelling with kids you may want to ask for a ground floor room as there are no lifts. Resort is close to all shopping, beach bars and restaurants. Lovely staff.

The Amari Palm Reef is an excellent...
The Amari Palm Reef is an excellent hotel. It has everything going for it. A wonderful location right on a wonderful stretch of white sand. Two wonderful pools, one by the sea, the best buffet breakfast in Thailand, wonderful eco friendly approach to hotel management, wifi zone, chill out beds in the bar and loads of dining options. Great for families and kids and also for couples. Close to all the action in town but not so close that you get any noise and the staff are superb. I would definatly stay here again as my wife and I loved it.
