Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and service is efficient, if relaxed. Our room was adequate; comfortable but not luxurious and we had no problems with it. The buffet breakfast was of a good quality although the choice was limited. On the other hand, the lunch/dinner menu was varied and very reasonable and the quality was always excellent. The only real drawback to our stay was the total lack of a beach but this was more than made up for by the excellent shore-side pool. Don't stay here if you want an exciting, Patong Beach style holiday but, if you are looking for a peaceful place in which to unwind this is the perfect hotel for you.

AoChalong Accommodation Appraisal
We had requested a Pool view room on the Ground floor, because stairs are a problem at the moment. Unfortunately what we got was a Pool view room on the first floor; with no lift available to this 4 level building, so beware. However next day reception was helpfull and a change to a Garden view room on the ground floor was arranged. This proved satisfactory and a reduction in cost negociated successfully.
The resort is of a quiet laid back style, right on the waterfront with two nice pools, gardens and shade trees.
It is several hundred meteres down a lane way from the main road, a little hard to find but had absolutely no traffic noise unlike Patong Beach and others which are noisy, full of traffic, Bars and the Night club scene, which is not what some might wish for.
The buffet breakfast is quite adequate and the staff all very friendly.We also dined at night which was pleasant and not too expensive.
The manageress on the front counter speaks good English which is helpfull.
A rental car or motor bike is a requirement as there is no regular bus which passses near by.
The pier from which boats depart to a lot of the local islands is close by and you can walk to it along the beach in about ten minutes.
The resort is good value for the dollars charged, Note you will save by booking on-line before you arrive rather than just fronting up.
We can recommend this resort for a relaxing holiday break --away from the maddening crowds.

A pleasurable experiance
Ao Chalong Villa is one of the most pleasant place my wife and I have ever stayed. It is value for money from the quality of services and beauty of the Villa. One of our highlight is the garden and trees that surrounds the whole place that gives such a relaxed and rejuvenating atmosphere. The SPA is slightly expensive however, but it is worth a try.

first of all : the hotel has no beach access ! mangrove, dirty shore and no swimming at all, only the pool. second : the restaurant has a poor selection of food - if you are staying here, walk to the main road and reward yourself in any of the joints there; finally - were eager to arrange a pick up for us only to inform us post factum that it would cost us ~ 25 USD. and while the room itself was great, i would highly advise against this place, do no waste your money on this hotel.

Very disappointing customer service
On reflection the hotel itself and grounds we're actually fairly reasonable, albeit a bit tatty. However this hotel loses all it's brownie points on account of the hopeless customer service.
The road to the hotel was not a good first impression being right next to a building site.
The main swimming pool needed a general sweep and was deserted.
The staff resembled faulty towers in their incompetence.
At 3pm in the afternoon our room was not ready (despite the check-in from noon) and the staff put us into another room temporaily whilst it was being prepared and would be ready from 7pm. The toilet flush didn't work in this room and there was no security deposit box. This was very inconvenient as we wanted to dump out bags and valuables and head out for the afternoon and evening. The communication was woeful and we were given no choice in what alternatives there may be - such as leaving bags in reception.
The room we were eventually moved to smelt of a dirty linen basket and the bathroom was poorly furnished for a supposed 4 star hotel.
On the plus side the breakfast was very nice at which point we discovered the other half of the hotel which had a very pleasant second swimming pool and sea view. Shame no one told us about this the day before.
We only stayed one day and were very glad of it. However I get the impression that a lot of hotels in Phuket are similarly disappointing so am left unsure as to how this stacks up against its competition.

We spent just one night on the way to Phi-Phi Islands. My impression was good. Fiendly and helpful staff. AC was not working in our room when we moved in. After we reported it, they tried to fix it but after 10 minutes offered us another room. Free Wi-Fi is available as well as free desktops with internet access at reception. Good hotel for a reasonable price.

I found the staff to be quite accommodating and gracious. From the housekeeping department to management, everyone is right on top of their game and make guests feel welcome and well cared for without being cloying or "in your face".
I would suggest that more internet terminals be available as there is only one computer and for those of us who do not like to travel with a lap top, it can be frustrating to wait an hour for someone to finish their email, etc.
Other than that, I found the hotel to be wonderful and a place I would highly recommend and return to.
